Speech is free. Until it isn’t.
Sweden has the oldest free speech legislation in the world, 250 years.
To celebrate the anniversary and remind the world about the importance of free speech we created a film with some of the most well known free speech activists in the world.
Commissioned by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in collaboration with the United Nations we gained access to UN ambassadors Emma Watson, Leonardo di Caprio and Malala Yousafzai – and then silenced them.
The film spread like wildfire around the world. Even the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs joined in and surprised an huge crowd with a silent speech of her own.
